Brandi Carlile
Need some new tunes? Check out some Brandi Carlile. This girl’s voice can bring it, it can be strong and melodic or she can rough it up a little and push out some gritty rock. My buddy Karl out in San Francisco introduced me to her first album and I’ve enjoyed most of what I’ve heard since then. She comes from Seattle where she started recording her first songs and then began to tour around with the extremely talented Hanseroth brothers. Then she release her first major (self-titled) record with highlights like Throw It All Away and Tragedy (featured in Grey’s Anatomy). Listen to them here. Carlile has since released her second major album, The Story. Its a great “alt-country/folk-rock” feel that features all of her subtle nuances. It was recorded in 11 days with the brothers, an added drummer, and all produced by T-Bone Burnett (who is the real deal.) Needless to say, this record sounds great. One of my favorite tracks on the whole thing is Turpentine.
Check it out…
I think Brandi is the perfect addition to any collection. Its great to cruise down the road with or to just throw into a mix while cleaning the house or just hangin’ with some friends at a dinner party. Hope you enjoy.
Also, look for some exciting Christmas editions of New Tunes Tuesday throughout December.
